I was told to try out Fujairah for bonefish on the fly :-)
Might have to get the old man to post the kit to me......
You can get a really decent 9wt Shakespeare that will do you a turn for 40 quid - great rod for starters... As for a reel, something saltwater is needed - Line is the big issue - worth spending more on the line and leaders than the reel itself, that's for sure.
Let's chat when we meet - you're getting me off on one.

There is great sport to be had on the fly here for sure, but it's largely seasonal. Dorado on the fly is an East Coast 'easy' - well, as much as SWFF is 'easy'. On the Dubai coast, there are windows of opportunity....I tried for 5 hours with the Queens last week, before giving up and nailing a few on rapalas and deadbaits. All C 'n' quick R. BTF

I'm rethinking the SWFF thing....I will give it a year and then see how to prceed. My shopping list for tackle has grown considerably due to some stuff being left in the UK (thanks darling ) and the differences between UK styles and the type of tackle needed here. Both are going to cost me and I really fancy adding to the list with an electric motor for the dinghy. I do think that SWFF will be a valuable tool for shallow water mullet; which is what I want it for...so we will see
